Events

The highlight of the events season is the Exeter Festival in July - over 200 events including many different types of music, theatre, comedy, exhibitions, arts and crafts, martial arts, fireworks and street parties. In April, the Exeter Walking Festival gets off to a... well, slow-paced start! The Devon County Show is held in May, the 7-day Devon Heritage Festival in August, and there's always a big turn-out to see the Christmas lights turned on each November. The Lammas Fair, which is usually held at the start of August, is an old Anglo-Saxon traditional festival, still undertaken with all the trappings of the original event! For up-to-the-minute information, contact the Tourist Information Centre (tel: 01392 265700).
