Whether it's a night on the town with your mates or a quest to 'pull', Exeter's clubs more than suffice. Exeter may not be as glamourous as London or as wild as Ibiza but the clubs here certainly know how to throw a good party.

Club Rococo's
Mary Arches Street, Tel: 01392 434411
Monday night entry is just £1. On other nights age restrictions are applied, with over-21 and over-25 nights, not really aimed at students. But if you are into really cheesy music and a general good time, you can't go far wrong with this place.
Warehouse / Boxes
37, Commercial Road, Tel: 01392 259292
http://www.wbb.org.uk
Although being a firm favourite with first years, you're bound to see all manner of students hovering around the club on a Thursday night, with free entrance up until 10:30pm and excellent drinks promotions. Found down by the Quay, Warehouse and Boxes is the same club which randomly splits up on certain nights of the week. The music isn't bad, drinks a little pricey but in the same league as most clubs. Boxes does a gay night on Tuesdays and Wednesday nights are the popular MTE (Margaret Thatcher Experience), with entrance only 80p with voucher.
Volts / Hothouse

4, The Quay, Tel: 01392 211347
http://www.volts-hothouse.co.uk
Within spitting distance of Warehouse, Volts is perhaps most popular for hosting Vodbull (very cheap and very messy Vodka and Red Bull nights!) on the first Monday of each month. On the weekends its mainly full of townies which can make life less pleasant for students.
Timepiece

Little Castle Street, Tel: 01392 493096
http://www.timepiecenightclub.co.uk
You'll be hard pressed to find a club that matches up to Timepiece. Found just off the High Street, it's in great location and is split over three floors to cater for different tastes. The wine bar is downstairs, the main room on the middle floor, and a smaller, quieter room on the top. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the music is the best of the cheesy bunch. The biggest night of the week is a Wednesday, the Timepiece student night, where a portion of the club's profits are pumped back into the University - over £17,000 each year. There's a comedy night on Sundays where some top names can come and entertain a mix of sober and drunk party-goers. Monday and Tuesday nights are for university society socials, or for private parties. Thursday is Cheesey night. On Fridays is Collision, an indie night, and Saturday has Sex Machine, a varied mixture of music.
Arena
1, Summerland Street, Tel: 01392 491419
One of the better clubs in Exeter, this is always a firm favourite with any student on a Tuesday night for its only £2 to get in with your student card. Dress code is casual, but on certain nights of the week such as Fridays the no-jeans and no-trainers rule are more strictly enforced. Never the same type of music here means variety for everyone, so it's always worth giving Arena a second chance if you don't enjoy it the first time. The cocktail bar is reasonably priced - the drinks are well worth it.
Cavern

83-84, Queen Street, Tel: 01392 495370
http://www.cavernclub.co.uk
If you're interested in decent live music rather than middle-aged cheap DJs belting out cheesily cheerful chart choons, then the Cavern is surely the place to be. It's a cosy little club, with a small capacity, but that only works in its favour. It has a very undergound feel to it, and it's without a doubt the best place to go for live punk, metal, drum 'n' bass and underground house. Recently, they've hosted acts such as Hundred Reasons, Lost Prophets, Muse, Rival Schools, A, Cooper Temple Clause, Capdown, Number One Son, Ed Rush, Mr. Scruff, DJ Hype and Nicky Blackmarket.
The Roadhouse
54, Cowick Street, Tel: 01392 202035
http://www.ents24.com/web/venue/14618/Exeter/The+Roadhouse.html
Usually specialising in loud and heavy metal music, The Roadhouse has done well to remain underground and uncommercial. If you can cope with sweaty moshpits, goths and leather gear, you'll love this place! Fridays is grunge and hard rock, and Saturdays is mainly gothic and industrial. For schedule information, click the link above.
The Lemon Grove (The Lemmy)
Cornwall House, Exeter University, Tel: 01392 263263
The Lemmy - the on-campus nightclub which everyone claims to absolutely hate but is still completely sold out and packed every Friday and Saturday night! It's a sweaty meat market, with a good mix of students from each year sure to be found there. The Lemmy has also been boosting it's respectability recently by hosting big-name gigs on behalf of the Cavern, such as Hundred Reasons and A. There are also loads of events on all the time, such as big cash-prize quizs, campus bands shows and various other fun events.
