CricketExeter is a university with a long and strong history of sporting achievement. With a reputation for excellence and an impressive array of facilities and activities to take part in, it is no surprise that many sportsmen and sportswomen choose Exeter to study at.

Facilities

Thanks to the £4m Sports Fund 2000 redevelopment programme, Exeter's sporting facilities are now even more modern, and even better quality than they were originally reputed for. The facilities now on offer include:

Main Sports Hall: large hall, exercise studio, martial arts dojo, fitness studio, 8 squash courts, indoor climbing facilities
Top Field: water-based synthetic turf pitch, sand-filled synthetic turf pitch, lacrosse pitch, rugby training pitch, cricket nets
Swimming pool at St. Luke'sStreatham Campus: 18 tennis courts, heated outdoor swimming pool
St. Luke's Campus: 2 sports halls, fitness & conditioning studio, indoor swimming pool, grass tennis courts.

As well as the university-owned ground, there are a number of other, nearby locations which the university makes great use of:

Duckes Meadow: 4 rugby pitches, 13 football pitches
Rowancroft: 6 tennis/netball courts, five-a-side football facilities

Finally, in Topsham, 3 miles from campus, is the university's most recently developed sports ground, which includes 2 county-standard cricket squares, 2 league-standard football pitches and a rugby pitch which is home to the University 1st XV.

Sports Scholarship Schemes

RugbyScholarships, which are available in all sports, are designed to help high performance sportspeople to continue to progress in their sport. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students may apply. The scheme is one of the most generous in the UK - scholars get free campus accommodation, a cash award each year for sporting expenses, a mentor to help them get the right balance between their academic study and their sporting commitments and regular meetings with the Sports Scholarships Co-ordinator.
